Bangkok Mass Transit System - A quick guide to the system
The BTS Skytrain is one of the safest, most comfortable, quick and convenient way to get around Bangkok. In service since December 5, 1999, it has transformed the face of public transportation in the Thai capital, offering both residents and visitors a comfortable, air-conditioned and reliable ride through central Bangkok - lifting commuters above the chronic congestion, noise and pollution of the streets below. An excellent alternative mode of transportation, the service is reliable, efficient and comfortable.
The two routes - the Sukhumvit Line and the Silom Line, cover most of the central city and its many commercial, residential and tourist areas. They provide a convenient network connecting major hotels, restaurants & bars, health & beauty establishments, banks, and spas as well as providing easy access to many other services
Bangkok's Skytrian serves 25 stations in key locations around town, allowing passengers to leapfrog busy traffic intersections. There are two separate railway lines: One from the northern bus terminal at Morchit to Sukhumvit Soi 77 (Soi Onnut ). The other from the National Stadium (near Pathumwan Intersection to Taksin Bridge at the end of Sathorn Road. The two line meet at the busy Siam Center where passengers can switch from one line to another.
Stations
The typical station consists of two levels - concourse and platform. The concourse provides ticketing facilities and other passenger amenities as well as access to the system. The platform is for waiting, boarding and alighting from the train. Please be aware that the train may approach the platform anytime, from any direction.
Trains
Our trains are designed to high international standards. Doors open / close automatically. Beeper sounds will warn you when the doors are about to close. If standing please stand clear of the door's at all times.
Track
Stay away from the track and electrified rails. Pay attention to all warning signs. Trespassing onto the track area can cause severe injury to yourself or others.
Fares
About 10 to 40 that depend on your destination
